The 2011 American Renaissance conference was canceled due to pressure from egalitarian love-mongers, just as the 2010 conference was canceled.
But in 2010, dozens of speakers and attendees still converged on Dulles Airport, an impromptu location for speeches was found, and there was a great deal of camaraderie and productive networking.
This past weekend, AmRen speakers and guests also went to Charlotte, but this time there was no convergence. Instead, there were two meetings with very little interaction or overlap.
The Grass-Roots Meeting
Matt Parrott of Hoosier Nation and Radio Free Indiana organized the American Dark Age Meetup for die hard AmRen attendees. Matt himself will write up the story for Counter-Currents, but I can tell you that there were talks, networking, camaraderie, and some activism, namely a protest at the Sheraton that canceled AmRen’s contract. Most of the events were recorded on video, and those videos will appear good time at the Voice of Reason.
The Astroturf Meeting
If Matt Parrott set up a grass-roots meeting, I suppose Rachel Maddow would call the other meeting “astroturf,” meaning something centralized, elite-controlled, and “virtual.” Originally, the plan was that AmRen’s speakers would gather and give their talks to one another. The talks would be videoed and streamed live on the internet to people around the globe. The original plan for Matt Parrott’s group was to watch the streaming conference while enjoying the networking and camaraderie of a face-to-face meeting.
Unfortunately, the webcast did not happen. Apparently, the hotel where the guests were staying had inadequate internet connectivity. So they booked a meeting room at an adjacent hotel. But before they could begin, their reservation was mysteriously canceled. So they ended up simply videoing the speeches for release on DVD.
An account of the speeches has been posted at American Renaissance website: “A Very Successful Unsuccessful Conference.”

Wow. Reading the program of the astroturf conference almost makes me glad that the feed did not go through. I would have vomited at some of the statements that were made. Some of the speakers sound more like neocons than the neocons themselves. This “Sam Dickson” makes me physically ill:
[ . . . ]
I haven’t seen all the videos (I’ve downloaded the Dewinter speech but haven’t watched it yet), so I don’t want to be unfair to the conference based on the account of one speaker’s comments, but “a standing ovation” for that? What kind of people are these AmRen insiders? I’d expect such drivel to be booed by all true traditionalists.
I was amused by the standing ovation part. What does that mean, exactly, in a room with NO AUDIENCE — just other conference speakers and staff? Although I am sure that if there were a real audience, there probably would have been a standing ovation. Sam Dickson told me many times that he is the best speaker in our movement.
Hunter is a coward but he’s right.
Never talk to reporters. All journalists are regime criminals.
Publicity is for proles.
In reply to Compassionate Fascist:
Your comment, “Pitiful, just pitiful. Can’t figure out why JT insists, year after year, in bearding the Lion in its own den,” seems to have the seed of its own answer.
Political kabuki.
All sides get to claim victory, the lion never takes a bite out JT, and all sides claim moral victory.
This has its place in the scheme of WNist issues, I suppose, but the agony of defeat is really outweighing the thrill of victory.
Think of the analogy of Charlie Brown, Lucy and the football she pulls away ever single time.
That’s conservatism for you, and, at the end of the day, AmRen is the acceptable face of the “racial” wing of conservatism.
Again, as Harold Covington reminds us,
“Every time we play their Game, by their Rules, we always lose.”
We can learn from this.
“I’ll tell you what’s fundamentally wrong with the White Nationalist fraction: your leaders are a joke.”
1) Jared Taylor is not a White Nationalist – his position is that people should have the freedom of association to form their own communities. This is the only line i’ve ever heard him advocate. That’s not really White Nationalism, which should be defined as an ideology advancing total racial separatism, not merely the ability to choose one’s community.
2) “Hunter Wallace” is mentally ill. I’m not saying this as a personal attack, since I don’t bear any personal animosity towards him, but he’s just not right. Not being a psychologist I can’t diagnose him, but I suspect he suffers from some kind of narcissistic personality disorder – which is why he is constantly ranting against someone – Guy White, Jeffrey Imm, Jim Giles, Alex Linder, Greg Johnson, Matt Parrott, Vanguardists, etc… Notice that most of these people are “on our side”, even if one disagrees with them. Back in 2008 “Hunter” claimed to have an episode of “bipolar mania.” This was probably just attention seeking, though.
3) People always look at the WN movement and say, “See, if only we could act right – we’d gain influence.” Well, yes and no. The “lack” of leadership among White Nationalists is due to our political repression. Anyone that tries to actually organize is either killed or sent to prison. The lucky ones are simply ruined financially like Tom Metzger. (Some skinhead assaults an immigrant and the government blames someone like Metzger who never even met the man – a complete farce of justice.) Johnny Lee Clary became an anti-racist after he was arrested on bogus charges and found out his girlfriend was a police informant. Matt Hale earned a law degree and passed the bar, but was denied the ability to practice law – he’s in prison for allegedly soliciting murder. He’ll probably die in prison like the Order boys. It goes on and on. The only “leadership” we get left with are mostly the ineffectual types who do nothing but criticize their own movement along with the federal informants like Hal Turner and David Gletty – most of whom get thrown under the bus when ZOG decides they have outlived their usefulness.
The topic of “why white nationalism has no decent political representatives” is worthy of an entire essay itself. (Short answer – whites are not allowed to organize themselves racially. It is de facto illegal. The recent AmRen conference is yet another example of this.)
Sam Davidson’s answer is so important, it requires several essays.
I can only begin to address a small part of the most substantive issue he chose to address.
Sam Davidson wrote:
This is the most astute summary observation on this topic we will see. Harold Covington addressed this on several occasions, but those that move The Work beyond politically safe political kabuki are isolated with frightening speed, and neutralized, one way or another.
Simply stated, the predators need the prey to remain alive – barely.
We have to “act right,” and “gain influence,” slowly, steadily, and with great intelligence, while we are surrounded with those who will do all in their power to short-circuit any attempts we may make at effective organization along racial lines.

It goes on and on like the *ahem* Red Queen – first judgement, then hearing the case.
Think Metzger learned from all of this?
I do.
Think the members of The Order learned from all this?
I know they did; Robert Mathews actively supported the creation of ethnocentric ocmmunities for us in the Pacific Northwest, and David Lane said, if he had it to do over, he would have formed small businesses, and linked them together, and then expand them into supporting small communities, linking THEM together. The last part, incidentally, is what Brigham Young did in the isolated Salt Lake Valley, turning the desert into Our Beloved Deseret, one person at a time, one family at a time, one small community at a time.
The Mormons seems to have done pretty well for themselves, and we can learn from their example.
Sam Davidson wrote:
Your strong point drives home how easily we have been steered by people who steered us down the wrong path, the path of impotence, of political and personal ineffectiveness.
I had forgotten about Hal Turner.
Sam Davidson wrote:
Indeed, the political kabuki nature of the AmRen affair reminds me of a picture I saw somewhere of Taylor in Halifax. If memory serves, he was being casually picked up bodily and manhandled by some antifa type, while the security forces that were present, it seemed. just stood by and watched.
Indeed, if memory serves, no arrests were made.
I’d like to tie this into Sam’s excellent point, that we are not allowed to organize politically along racial lines, and if we attempt to do so, force will be put into effect that will block our effectiveness at all point – IF we play their Game, by their Rules.
And if that Game continues, we shall be ever less effective, until we are totally ineffective.
Note, by the way, the importance of the analysis of proper tactics by “Hugh” on VNN/F”s “A World View.”
Note, as well, the futility of those who advocate the use of force (save for extremely limited and well-defined situations involving self-defense), and what they have to show for it.
We can learn from this.
Some further thoughts on Sam Davidson’s comments.
Sam Davidson wrote:
In reply, the issue seems to come down to three elements:
One, what can we do about this?
Essentially, look at this in terms of William S. Lind’s Fourth Generation Warfare model, where they try to colllapse your force’s “center of gravity,” while you try to collapse theirs.
Our “center of gravity” seems to be our “leaders,” whose political effectiveness is “collapsed” by a sudden and total assault on their weak points, whem they least expect it.
Take Dr. David Duke, who suddenly saw the leadership of the Republican Party come down and try to destroy his campaign by any means necessary.
Take, well, almost any one, from Rockwell on, all explicitly White Nationalists, all taken out of the business of effective political organization, one way or another.
Simply stated, it seems we have an oligarchical business model with highly defined implicit rules for governing American, and we will never be allowed to organize effectively along (nominally) implicit racial lines. (The same problem affected Marcus Garvey, by the way.)
The collapse of our “center of gravity” can be accomplished in several ways, from the creation of false leaders, to the removing the viability of a political candidate.
So, if we play THEIR Game, by THEIR Rules, we will always lose; if we are good enough sports about it, we will be allowed to play another round of the Game, provided we remain good sports, and provide good entertainment. Think of the NF versus the BNP, for one example.
Therefore, we can play THEIR Game by THEIR Rules, and perhaps we should, if only to learn about organizational politics, and the management of the political system.
Two, what should we do about this, in the medium term?
Here is where I meld a bit of Paul Weyrich, Wiliam Lind’s friend, and begin to move to the Northwest Republic, in the context of the metapolitical project.
Let’s follow the advice of Weyrich, and constructively withdraw the “consent” of the governed from participation in a Culture that is dying, adn wants to allow the various cancers within to metastasize.
How can we do this, in an “apple pie, strictly legal sort of way?”
Simple.
Follow the example of the most effective Race in the West: turn off the television set, and move from there to home schooling. Safer, easier, and much better for all.
That is a start.
Next, where possible, grow gardens, moving to less dependence on the status quo.
Next, if possible – and this is not investment advice – move your money – those of you who have money – to credit unions, rather than larger banks.
Next, develop small cooperatives, which can grow and merge in time.
All we are doing is laying the foundation for the trees than can bend with the wind, today, untilk they are strong enough to form a wall against the wind – economically speaking, of course.
Consider forming a home church – people get together once a week to discuss spiritual issues, without relying on sanctioned, organized preachers.
And that begins t lead us into the metapolitical project.
Three, what should we do about this, in the long term?
Each of these proposals are in the world, but leading to a way to be not of the world, slowly, step by strep, starting where you are.
The home church idea – not linked to any one of the Mainline denominations – offers an alternative for us to begin developing a better world, for us, and our posterity.
Every during the week Church service I’ve attended has a lot of men exchanging business cards, and developing business ties. A lot can be done with that idea.
But with the home church, where all manner of spiritual issues and cultural/economic issues may be discussed, never touching directly on politics. We can lay the foundation for a new religion, something which Christianity should have been – the union of Tradition with the Way, the Truth, and the Life, without the managerial middlemen turning it from its original purpose.
These types of organizations all lend themselves well to forming regional linkages, and, in time, the living foundation of a new nation, a White Homeland.
That takes us to the Northwest Republic, which offers, at best, a way back to the Stars, and, at worst, might well be our last, best hope.
This, by the way, is pretty much the model used by Brigham Young in his taking a beaten, dispossessed people, giving them a sense of fulfilling s transcendent purpose, and turning barren desert into Our Beloved Deseret.
We can learn from this.
I will say this for NPITV, though — at least on its channel it did link to the five-part J Will Films videos with Dr. Kevin MacDonald. I’d never see that series before, and I think it’s excellent. It’s filmed in a very SWPL way, which is good, as it lends more credibility to the man and his ideas than, say, a more “ominous” presentation would have.
Dr. MacDonald’s comments will hopefully help to mitigate some of the negative effect of the blinkered philosemitism coming out of the AmRen conference.
