Yes!! Just yesterday I was gong to suggest the quartet from Rigoletto, but I didn’t know if you’d put up an opera video. This is wonderful, thank you for sharing!
Great! Sometime do the “Magic Fire” finale from Die Walkure–magic fire symbolizes what we need these days.
I am working out the Video of the Day formula, and at least once a week, I want to include some classical music.
Beautiful. I’ve never seen Tosca but want to.
If anyone wants to get started on Opera, I very strongly suggest the 1982 made for TV version of Rigoletto. There is Pavarotti, as the scumbag Duke (very humorous and spirited),but most importantly Edita Gruberova, which is everything that is good about a female soprano….all clarity and sweetness, without the shrillness (sorry, Callas/Sutherland) that is sometimes off-putting about female sopranos.
The production is very good, and the story is very easy to follow. It is a genuinely humorous and moving piece, and a great intro to opera. If anything, Pavarotti’s face when singing “Bella Figlia dell’Amore” is worth it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HgrCdM4jKzI LOL.
My knowledge and understanding of music is limited.
Listening to this piece and watching this video evokes an unique feeling.
The closest word I can find is feeling of sublime.
The music, words, countenance make us longing for something which we are missing now.Almost as here we find epitome of a Western man, love, passion, loyalty
chivalry,fortitude,nobility.
Contrast this with rap music or whatever music is now in vogue.
