My trust in science died when I learned about the secretive world of vivisection.
Without watching the video (I will do so later):
1) In terms of sheer irrationality bordering on insanity (sorry to any religious conservatives reading this), conservatives who reject evolution are far more irrational than liberals. You might as well believe the Earth is flat.
2) Because liberals control elite opinion and wield far more real cultural influential than the conservatives, liberal irrationality on science (race denial, sex denial, IQ denial, egalitarianism) is vastly more destructive to society than conservative irrationality.
I watched it. Haidt is interesting. The idea that groups close ranks around that which they hold “sacred” to the point of becoming irrational (denying science) has the potential to damage our enemies. By noticing parallels between liberal egalitarians and Biblical creationists, Haidt is putting a pretty subversive idea out there. Egalitarians don’t come away from that comparison looking very good.
Interesting. Nothing I didn’t know already. However, it is good to hear this from academics not associated with us. This will be a good link to send to more open-minded, science oriented atheists/”liberals.”
