Why I Write for Counter-Currents

Gabriël Metsu, Man Writing a Letter, circa 1664-1666

Gabriël Metsu, Man Writing a Letter, circa 1664-1666

2,716 words

I grew up in an incredibly small, overwhelmingly Southern Baptist town. The kind of place where almost everyone had some idea of when any given person in town had or hadn’t walked up in the main church (stationed straight across from the main grocery store) during the altar call to ask the Holy Spirit to come into their hearts, and “conservatism” meant being among the people keeping track more than anything else.

How Racial Egalitarianism Wrecked the Global Economy

recession2,876 words

To get the story about race and bank loans clear, all you have to do is take everything you know about the relationship between race and crime and switch around a few words.  Read more …

Trump, the Alt Right, & the Revolt Against Political Correctness

4,233 words

trump_wall_ben_garrisonOn June 6, 2015, dark clouds swirled over Trump Tower in New York City. Wolves howled. Lightning flashed. And The Words that Changed It All were spoken:

When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending the best. Read more …

The Myth of First-Wave Feminism

1,550 words

SuffragePosterWas it oppressive to deny women the vote? Let me be clear up front: the subject of this essay is not whether women should have the right to vote now. My argument is one that hypothetically should be capable of convincing a pure egalitarian who believes that “human nature” at its core is a kind of interchangeable, uniform “stuff,” beneath its outward expressions, which are constrained by external circumstances. I can change the mind of someone who believes that men and women are not even psychologically different and who is perfectly happy with the equality that we have managed to achieve today.  Read more …

An Open Letter to Jesse Williams

JesseWilliams2,271 words

Grey’s Anatomy star Jesse Williams recently gave an acceptance speech for the Black Entertainment Television’s Humanitarian Award in which he said the following:

Now, what we’ve been doing is looking at the data and we know that police somehow manage to deescalate, disarm and not kill white people everyday. . . .  Read more …

Diversity & the Rape of Justice

racists4rapists1,785 words

Leftists will accuse white men of fueling “rape culture” for sitting with their legs spread too far apart. But they’ve been excusing non-whites for committing actual acts of rape since well before the mass sexual assaults in Germany in 2016. The Cologne attacks on New Years’ Eve didn’t represent the beginning of these trends—they just exposed to the wider public more clearly something that some of us have already been observing for a long time.  Read more …

Ethnonationalism for Normies
(Or, “On the Sense of Coming Home”)

2,083 words

HobbitHouseI want to run my household one way. My friends Travis and Kyle each want to run their household a different way. For example, I may prefer to wash my dishes immediately after I’ve finished eating, and resent ever seeing a dish left in the sink; Travis might prefer to leave one set of dishes in the sink, and wash them again immediately before each use; and Kyle might like to let the dishes pile up for a week, and then wash them all at once on the weekend when he’s done with work.  Read more …

The Meme War is Real

oldermeme2,009 words

We were told that the Left’s concern over gay marriage was about wanting to expand specific, concrete benefits entailed by the marriage certificate to homosexuals. Foremost amongst these benefits, at least as far as rhetoric was concerned, was hospital visitation rights. Read more …

Wising Up to Uncle Tim

TimWise2,647 words

The most terrifying thing about the career of Tim Wise is its lack of controversiality. It’s one thing to have people like Wise presenting controversial perspectives to the public. It’s a whole other thing entirely to have the arbiters of public opinion holding up Tim Wise as someone to be consulted as an indisputable expert.

In the very first sentence of Tim Wise’s own About page, he presents himself not as a political activist, but as an “educator.”[1]  Read more …

Employers Hate Blacks, but They Love “Ebony”?

About six years ago, I was still indoctrinated by leftist thought enough to start a small online group I called “ARSENAL” (it stood for something like “Anti-Racist Studies e-North American Library,” from what I can remember). Read more …
