Greg Johnson
In commemoration of the birthday of English novelist Henry Williamson, I wish to draw your attention to two articles on this site:
- “Henry Williamson: Nature’s Visionary” by Mark Deavin
- “Henry Williamson” by Kerry Bolton, now expanded
Williamson’s best known works are his nature novels for children of all ages, Tarka the Otter and Salar the Salmon.
For more information on Williamson’s life and work, see the website of The Henry Williamson Society.

Thank you for remembering Henry on his birthday. I brought myself up on his writings. His whole work is a philosophy of life often couched in quite beautiful prose. For the more politically inclined I would recommend his book, ‘Phoenix Generation”, which describes the Nuremberg Rally through the eyes of fictional protagonist ‘Philip Maddison’. Henry was a staunch follower of Sir Oswald Mosley and the British Union of Fascists and National Socialists who he characterises in his books as ‘Sir Hereward Birkin’ and the ‘Imperial Socialist Party.
These articles are very inspiring. Shining “Sunlight” on the lives of people who tried to lead our race in times of trouble and who were mistreated and forgotten, should encourage us to remember and carry their memory into the future world they helped build.
Williamson’s books the “A Chronicle of Ancient Sunlight” all 15 vols are here.
These people ( bookdepository.com) will mail any of their books anywhere in the world for free
