I attended a beautiful Thanksgiving service this morning at a Baptist church in a small Virginia town. The congregation, and the other citizens of this town, are all probably descendants of the colonials that settled in America 300-400 years ago. It’s good to see this small town is becoming more diverse with its growing African American community and its new young Korean pastor whose heavy accent just adds to his charm. Maybe this deviation from the run of the mill pastors, i.e. old white male pastors, will draw more people into church. We were reminded to pray for the refugees, and to be thankful if we ever had a chance to help those who are in need. So, to others of European descent, especially those in France, Germany, and England, Thanks be to the God of Israel. Happy Thanksgiving.

So sorry, but all the sentimentality that Americans place on this holiday just drives me up the wall. Thank goodness for Williams S. Burroughs.
