In any matchup between Batman and Superman, I side with Batman. I’ve never liked the character of Superman, because he is not a man at all. He’s basically a god. He’s not a human being who has raised himself to the pinnacles of human excellence. He’s an alien who is simply endowed with superior abilities. There is nothing heroic about Superman, because he is almost invulnerable. He faces no risks. There’s nothing he must struggle to overcome.

Easy Meat: Inside Britain’s Grooming Gang Scandal
London: New English Review Press, 2016
One of the primary challenges a reviewer faces when reading Peter McLoughlin’s Easy Meat: Inside Britain’s Grooming Gang Scandal is remaining objective. The sex crimes that Mr. McLoughlin chronicles are so appalling, the perpetrators so unrepentant, and the cover-up so insidious and widespread, (more…)

When the West was great, our children were raised with stories and sagas, folk tales and common prayer. Today, they are raised by corporate franchises, worship SJW superheroes, and experience reality through a screen. (more…)

Translated by G. A. Malvicini
The term “intelligent stupidity” was coined by a distinguished representative of traditional thought, F. Schuon (although G. Bernanos had already used an analogous expression, l’intelligence des sots, and another Frenchman had written that “le drame de notre temps, c’est que la bêtise se soit mise à penser” [the drama of our time is that stupidity has started thinking]), to characterize a form of intellectuality that has come to dominate large sectors of modern culture, and which is strongly represented in Italy. An excellent index of Counter-Currents’ rising profile and influence is the growing number of foreign language translations of our books. The latest is my own book, New Right vs. Old Right, which has been translated into French under the title Le Nationalisme Blanc: Interrogations et Définitions [White Nationalism: Questions and Definitions] (Saint-Genis-Laval: Éditions Akribeia, 2016). It is a beautifully printed and bound volume.
Imagine a world where the following paragraph was true:
White people are just 2% of the population of South Africa.
And yet, a whopping 31% of South African media companies are owned by white people; 38% are founded by white people; 45% of their presidents are white people; and 47% of their chairmen are white people. (more…)

If you think of the Pre-Raphaelites you will probably be put in mind of flame-haired women in medieval dress or perhaps the depiction of a scene from a biblical or mythological story. The aesthetic appeal of such paintings seems to derive from a pre-modernist craving for something formally beautiful in its own right, without any sense of remove or cynicism. And if you consider that the tail end of the Pre-Raphaelite movement preceded the emergence of Dada by only a few years then it really does seem as though the Brotherhood marked a final statement in the history of Western art.
(more…)
