Is God Sexist?

Pieter de Grebber, God Inviting Christ to Sit on the Throne at His Right Hand (1645)

1,245 words

I was at one of my Twelve Step meetings the other day, and as happens to all such groups sooner or later, they are going through their “God is sexist” moment.

In case you don’t know, all the Twelve Step groups – Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, Gamblers Anonymous, and a host of others – are “God-based” programs. Read more …

Welcome to the Capitol Hill Polycule

Katie Hill

1,917 words

What would politics be without sex scandals? Everyone knows lawmakers often engage in lurid affairs and try to keep their private lives out of the public eye. When they get caught, it’s front-page news and red meat for late-night comedy.

The latest political sex scandal is different from the past ones, however. It doesn’t feature a powerful man frequenting high-end hookers or jet-setting off with a hot young staffer. Read more …

2. A Will to Nothingness: The Essence of Leftist Metaphysics

We are now in a position to step back from these observations and draw some general conclusions about the metaphysics of Leftist ideology. I trust the reader understands, however, that I am identifying the metaphysics that underlies Leftist ideology. Read more …

What is the Metaphysics of the Left? Part One

3,629 words

Part 1 of 2 (Part 2 here)

Metaphysics is the science of what is real. It is the most fundamental branch of philosophy; other philosophical ideas are derived from or based upon metaphysical convictions. For example, the Epicurean principle that pleasure is the highest good follows from its materialism and rejection of belief in an afterlife. However, it is also possible to speak of metaphysics outside of the context of philosophical systems. Read more …

TERFs & Transsexual Men

2,539 words

TERF is an acronym for “trans-exclusionary radical feminist.” It is also a slur. Unlike most political slurs, it is an accurate description of the people that the acronym describes.

TERF names the subset of radical feminists that opposes the inclusion of transsexual men (aka “transwomen”) in the category “woman.” Some radical feminists welcome men who believe they are women, and many others do not. TERF names the latter and contrasts them to the former. Read more …

The Adults Left the Room a Long Time Ago:
The Transsexual Issue

1,711 words

A week ago, I flew from my West Coast abode to a gym equipment and fitness symposium in Washington, DC. My lodging was provided by my older half-brother, who is raising a batch of teenage girls attending high school in northern Virginia’s expensive ‘burbs. After dinner, in his study, he explained that he was starting to become aware of transsexuals. In the current high school social scene, there are a great many. Read more …
